DrDad’s answer: Two dentists can look at the same tooth and reasonably choose different points on the conservative-versus-protective spectrum.
For example, a filling preserves more natural tooth and may be simpler. A crown removes more tooth but can provide broader protection when the remaining tooth is weak. Sometimes the disagreement is not about whether there is a problem—it is about how aggressively to treat it and when.
What I Would Ask Both Dentists
Can you show me why you prefer your option? What is the advantage of doing less now, and what is the risk? What is the advantage of protecting the tooth more now, and what is the downside?

Different treatment plans don’t automatically mean someone is wrong. Ask both dentists to show you their reasoning. Timing and philosophy can change the plan.
