Is $6,000 Too Much for a Dental Implant?

DrDad’s answer: My first question would be: What exactly is included in the $6,000?

If that price is only for the implant, custom abutment, and crown, I personally consider $6,000 expensive. But that is my clinical perspective—not a national fee schedule. Specialists and high-cost markets may charge more.

The comparison changes completely if the quote also includes an extraction, bone graft, sinus lift, sedation, temporary tooth, or other procedures. That is why comparing one implant “price” to another without an itemized estimate can be misleading.

What I Would Ask Your Dentist

Can you itemize the entire $6,000? Implant? Custom abutment? Crown? Extraction? Bone graft? Sinus lift? Sedation? Temporary? Imaging?

DrDad Tips

Before asking whether an implant is expensive, make sure you know what you’re actually buying. Compare the same treatment to the same treatment.
